# Jails

Jails and Jails+ documentation for Minecraft staff. Tempjail players, block escapes, and set prisoner rules.

Jails is the step between a warning and a ban. Staff send a player to a jail. A timed sentence ends on its own. A permanent jail stays until staff release the player.

This site covers both editions.

* **Jails** is free. It creates jails, tempjails players, handcuffs them, and blocks the usual teleport commands.
* **Jails+** is paid. It adds escape zones, a teleport lock, an offline timer pause, IP jail, bail, cells, a prisoner list, and a Discord bot.

If you just installed the plugin, start with [Start here](/jails/introduction/start-here.md). If you already have a jail and need a command, open [Commands](/jails/commands-and-administration/commands.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
Jails+ renamed some commands. Free uses `/jails setjail`. Plus uses `/jails set jail`. The [command list](/jails/commands-and-administration/commands.md) marks each edition.
{% endhint %}
